The perfect postaday.

It was wonderful, but not as spectacular as I thought it would be. But, definitely it was on my bucket list.

The perfect blog for the postaday challenge?

Neither have I, but I have read some great blogs. Some blogs are better than others, and some blogs are worse than others.

Bad blogs use profanity when it is not necessary. They use pictures, because they cannot write well. And they almost always write badly, or poorly – yes, there is a difference.

The great blogs are written well.

And unfortunately for me, the great blogs use more pictures than I do. It is a fact that most people are attracted to great images quicker than we are attracted to great writing.

Hence, most of us recognize a photo of the Colosseum, before we recognize prose from Shakespeare. I am one of the ‘most’ too often.

‘The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.’

I like that quote, and hopefully, I will remember it in the future.

Another thing great blog posts have in common is the theme of the post. The subject.

Travel and kids make for great post subjects. Pets usually make for great post subjects. All three themes yield great photos.

Compare those to a photo of some strange planet?

A strange planet will get your attention, but unless you are an astro-physicist, it probably won’t keep your attention.

Another problem when trying to write a great blog post is simply frequency. It is difficult to keep a solid balance between subject and quality.

Sometimes bloggers write better when we blog a lot (often.) Other writers need to blog less frequently. But, all writers, even a Shakespeare, have difficulty writing well at all times.

So, I hope you will go out and post a day, every day. And I hope you will ready a great blog every day. I, also, hope to read better blogs under WP’s Freshly Pressed column. If not, I might have to quit reading WP recommendations entirely.
